On 5 February 2026, an Embraer EMB-110P1 Bandeirante, operating a domestic cargo flight in Haiti from Jérémie Airport, Grand'Anse, to Antoine-Simon Airport, Sud Department, went missing during cruise. The wreckage of the aircraft was found by search and rescue teams the following day. Both crew members on board the aircraft were confirmed to have been killed.[1][2]
Background
The aircraft involved in the accident was an Embraer EMB-110P1 Bandeirante registered as N316AF and manufactured in 1980. The plane was operating a cargo flight for Agape Flights, a non-profit christian charity organization based in Venice, Florida. The aircraft had two pilots on board, both American nationals.[3]
Accident
The aircraft went missing on 5 February while cruising over a mountainous area south-east of Jérémie, near the town of Beaumont. Adverse weather conditions were present in the area at the time. Local authorities have reported to have lost contact with the plane both on ATC and ground surveillance.[4][5]
Search and rescue
On 6 February two helicopters, with on board members of the Haitian National Police, were sent to search for the missing flight. The wreckage of the aircraft was found on the same day; both pilots on board, initially unaccounted for, were confirmed to have been killed.[3] Agape Flights acknowledged the accident on their Facebook page, where they also asked for prayers and privacy for the people involved.
Investigation
Cargo issues, weather conditions, mechanical failure and pilot error are all taken in consideration as the possible causes of the accident.[4]
