Akhtaruzzaman Mia (born 12 February 1957) is a Bangladeshi politician and businessman. He belongs to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, first being elected to Dinajpur-4 in 2001 and again in 2026.[1]

Early life and education

Mia was born on 12 February 1957 to a Bengali Muslim family in the Miapara neighbourhood of South Palashpara village in Dinajpur District, Bangladesh. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce and Master's degree with honours in Accounting and Information Systems from Rajshahi University in 1979.

Career

Mia was elected to parliament from Dinajpur-4 as a Bangladesh Nationalist Party candidate in 2001.[2] He ran as an independent candidate during the 2008 Bangladeshi general election,but later joined the Jatiya Oikya Front-backed Bangladesh Nationalist Party in 2018, losing to Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali of the Awami League.
