Arsjad Rasjid (born 16 March 1970) is an Indonesian businessperson and investor. He is the founder and chairman of Sriwijaya Capital, a private equity firm focused on growth-stage investments in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.[1] He previously served as president director of Indika Energy and in 2025 joined the company's board of commissioners[2]. He served as chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) from July 2021 to 16 January 2025, and has since served as chairman of KADIN's Advisory Council (''Dewan Pertimbangan'') for the 2024–2029 term.[3]

Early life and education

Arsjad Rasjid was born on 16 March 1970 in Jakarta.[4] His father H.M.N. Rasjid had served in the Indonesian Army and originated from Palembang, while his mother Suniawati was of mixed Sundanese-Chinese descent.[5] He began studying abroad at the age of 9, when he began to study in Singapore.[6] He later studied computer science at the University of Southern California, but later transferred received a bachelors in business administration from Pepperdine University in 1993.[4] During his studies in California, he met Agus Lasmono Sudwikatmono.[6]

Business career

Indika Energy Group

Rasjid built his career in the Indika Energy[7] group through its holding company, PT Indika Energy Tbk. The group has operated as a diversified investment company with businesses that include energy-related assets and services as well as investments in other sectors.

He served as president director of Indika Energy beginning in 2005.[8] In 2025, the company announced a change in its board and management structure and placed Rasjid on the board of commissioners.[2]

Sriwijaya Capital

In 2025, Rasjid founded Sriwijaya Capital and became its chairman.[9] The firm describes itself as a private equity platform focused on growth-stage companies, with Indonesia as a primary market and a regional outlook across Southeast Asia.

Public materials about the firm cite sectors such as healthcare, energy transition, consumer, and business and industrial services as areas of interest.[1]

XLSmart Telecom Sejahtera

Rasjid has served as president commissioner of PT XLSmart Telecom Sejahtera Tbk. The company was formed through a merger process involving XL Axiata and Smartfren, which became effective in 2025.[10] The merged entity continued operating mobile services using brands associated with the two companies.

Organisational roles and affiliations

Indonesian Business Council (IBC)

Rasjid has been listed as chairman of the board of trustees of the Indonesian Business Council (IBC).[11] IBC describes itself as a research-based, non-profit platform that convenes business leaders and engages government counterparts through policy dialogue and publications.

IBC has organised the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) as a recurring forum for business and policy discussions. In connection with IES 2026, IBC was reported to have worked with international partners on business roundtables related to Islamic markets and cross-border trade initiatives.[12]

Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin)

Rasjid was elected chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in 2021.[13] His term ended in January 2025, after a leadership consolidation process that appointed a new chairperson.[3] After stepping down from the chairperson role, he was reported to hold an advisory position within the organisation.[14]

ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC)

Rasjid was reported as chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) during Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2023.[15] ASEAN-BAC serves as a channel for private-sector input to ASEAN governments and participates in regional business programmes and forums.

Indonesian Archery Association (PB Perpani)

Rasjid was elected chairman of the Indonesian Archery Association (PB Perpani) for the 2023–2027 term. During his tenure, the organisation focused on athlete development and participation in international competitions, including preparations related to Olympic qualification cycles.[16]

Media reports during this period linked Indonesian archery results to qualification events toward the Paris 2024 Olympics and later coverage of regional multi-sport competitions.[16]

5P Global Movement

Rasjid has been associated with the 5P Global Movement, which frames its activities around five pillars—peace, prosperity, people, planet, and partnership.[17] The initiative has been described in public materials as a platform for cross-sector collaboration and social programmes.[18]

Indonesian Mosque Council (Dewan Masjid Indonesia)

In 2024, Rasjid was reported to have been appointed to a leadership role within Dewan Masjid Indonesia (Indonesian Mosque Council) for the 2024–2029 period. The role was linked to programmes on mosque-based economic empowerment and initiatives related to mosque acoustics and audio governance.[19]

Asosiasi Fintech Indonesia (AFTECH)

Rasjid was reported to have been elected as chair of the supervisory board of the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) for the 2025–2029 term. [20]In this capacity, the supervisory board role is generally associated with organisational oversight, governance direction, and engagement on industry issues such as policy and inclusion.

Endeavor Indonesia

In October 2025, Rasjid was reported to have joined Endeavor Indonesia as a board member.[21] Endeavor Indonesia is part of the global Endeavor network, which supports high-impact entrepreneurs through mentoring, networks, and ecosystem development.

OIC Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC)

Rasjid has been reported as a member of the board of trustees of the OIC Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) beginning in 2021.[22] OIC-AC is a dispute-resolution institution associated with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation framework, providing arbitration and mediation services for commercial and investment disputes.

Committee for Folk Games and Traditional Sports (KPOTI)

Rasjid has been reported to hold a leadership role in KPOTI for the 2025–2030 period.[23] KPOTI is linked to efforts to document, preserve, and promote folk games and traditional sports in Indonesia.

Awards and recognition

Rasjid has been listed as a Young Global Leader (World Economic Forum) and received a business award from Asiamoney.[24]

Political involvement

On 4 September 2023, Rasjid was appointed as chairman of Ganjar Pranowo's 2024 presidential campaign.[25] Although Rasjid had previously indicated his intention to join the campaign team,[26] he claimed that his appointment as chairman was done without prior communication and that he had found out about it from friends during an event who showed him online news articles about his appointment.[27]
