BÉIS is an American lifestyle and travel brand headquartered in El Segundo, California. Founded in 2018 by Shay Mitchell, the company designs and sells luggage, bags, and travel accessories. The brand is known for its "fashion-meets-function" aesthetic and its direct-to-consumer (DTC) business model.[1] In 2023, the company reported annual revenue of $200 million.[2]
History
BÉIS was launched in October 2018 by Shay Mitchell in partnership with Beach House Group, a brand incubator.[3] Mitchell, who serves as the company's Chief Creative Officer, stated that she founded the brand after identifying a gap in the market for travel gear that was both stylish and affordable. The brand's initial launch featured a seven-piece collection, including "The Weekender" bag, which became its signature product.[4]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, BÉIS reportedly quadrupled its business by pivoting marketing efforts toward "everyday" movement and localized travel gear, such as diaper bags and work totes.[5]
In 2024, the company was recognized by Inc. as one of the "Best Workplaces."[6]
Products and collaborations
The company's product line includes hard-shell rollers, weekender bags, backpacks, work bags, crossbodies, cosmetic accessories, and organizational accessories. While primarily a DTC brand, BÉIS is also distributed through retailers including Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Anthropologie, Selfridges, Indigo, Scheels, Von Maur, and, Revolve.[2]
Notable collaborations
The brand has gained media attention through limited-edition collaborations with entertainment franchises and other lifestyle brands:
- Barbie: In 2023, BÉIS released a "Barbiecore" inspired collection in partnership with Mattel to coincide with the Barbie film.[7]
- Wicked: In 2024, BÉIS collaborated with Universal Pictures for a collection themed after the film Wicked.[8]
- Gap: In 2025, BÉIS partnered with Gap Inc. to release a 25-piece travel collection featuring denim-inspired luggage and the brand's first foray into apparel.[9]
- Rare Beauty: In October 2025, a partnership with Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty focused on specialized travel organizers for cosmetics.[10]
- Chipotle: In late 2025, the brand launched "The To Go Collection," an 11-piece travel capsule with Chipotle Mexican Grill featuring insulated burrito-carrying bags.[11]
