Carlos Cuadrado Prats (born 24 January 1965 in Talca) is a Chilean journalist, academic and politician. He served as Mayor of the commune of Huechuraba from 2012 to 2024.

He is a member of the Party for Democracy and was elected as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile representing the 9th District for the 2026-2030 legislative term.[1]

Biography

Born in Talca, Cuadrado Prats is the son of Sofía Prats Cuthbert (former mayor of Huechuraba) and grandson of General Carlos Prats.

He studied in Molina and later at the French Alliances in Curicó, Santiago and Concepción. He pursued journalism and a master’s degree in Communication Social at the Autonomous University of Barcelona

Political career

Cuadrado Prats began his political career as a councillor of Huechuraba (2008-2012). In 2012 he was elected mayor of Huechuraba with 47% of the vote and reelected in 2016 with over 65%.

On 11 November 2024 he resigned as mayor in order to run for Parliament in 2025.
