Name

Official logo

The name "Cortis" is derived from six letters taken from the phrase "Color Outside the Lines". It symbolizes the band's commitment to thinking freely, unconstrained by the norms and expectations set by society.[4][5]

History

2025–present: Debut with Color Outside the Lines

Big Hit Music's parent company, Hybe Corporation, first unveiled plans for a new boy band in April 2025, slated to debut in the third quarter of the year.[6] Later in June, an August debut date was announced by Big Hit.[7] The band members and its name, Cortis, were officially announced on July 14 and August 7, respectively.[4][8] Cortis released a music video for their pre-debut track "Go!" on August 11.[9] They marked their official debut with the release of "What You Want" on August 18, serving as the lead single of their upcoming first EP Color Outside the Lines.[10] The EP was later released on September 8, alongside its third single "Fashion".[11]

On February 12, 2026, Cortis will be the headliner for the NBA Crossover Concert Series, at the LA Convention Center.[12] The next day, they will be releasing the song, "Mention Me", which will serve as a soundtrack for the upcoming American animated film Goat.[13][14] They will also become the first kpop act to perform in the halftime show of a 2026 NBA All-Star Week event, airing on ESPN. They will perform during the 2026 Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA.[12]
