Dominika Šalková (born 28 June 2004) is a Czech tennis player.
She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 129, achieved on 29 July 2024, by the WTA.[1] She also has a career-high WTA doubles ranking of No. 147, achieved on 28 August 2023.[2]
Professional
2021-2024: WTA Tour debut, first ITF titles
In 2021, Šálková received qualification wildcard at her first WTA Tour event Prague Open, but lost to former top 30 player Urszula Radwańska.
In August, Šálková reached her first ITF semifinal at home W60 tournament in Přerov, where she lost to eventual champion, Linda Nosková.[2]
In May 2022, won her first singles ITF title, beating local hope Antonia Ružić at the W25 Osijek. [2]
In June 2022 Šálková received her second qualification wildcard to Prague Open, but this time won two matches against former Top 100 players Astra Sharma and Natalia Vikhlyantseva to make her WTA Tour singles main-draw debut.[3] She defeated Ylena In-Albon in straight sets to reach second round, where she lost to eventual champion and compatriot Marie Bouzková. She made her WTA Tour debut in doubles with Barbora Palicová, losing in the first round.
Šálková won two doubles titles on the ITF circuit and finished 2022 season ranked No. 317 in singles and No. 307 in doubles.[1]
2023-2024
In June 2023, Šálková entered Prague Open qualification as direct entry for the first time, but lost in the qualification final to third seed and eventual semifinalist Tamara Korpatsch. She received a wildcard in doubles with Barbora Palicová and scored her first main draw wins as they reached semifinal stage after beating top seeds Zhang Shuai and Zhu Lin.
Šálková won 3 singles titles and five doubles titles on ITF circuit in 2023.[2] Šálková ended the 2023 season ranked at No. 254 in singles and No. 161 in doubles.[1]
In January 2024, Šálková entered her first qualifying for a Grand Slam tournament at the Australian Open and scored two wins, before losing to local favorite Storm Hunter, in three sets.[4]
Šálková won her sixth ITF Circuit title at the W75 Prague.[2] She lost in the second round of qualification at French Open. Following the event, she reached the top 150 on 10 June 2024 at world No. 143.[1]
She also lost in the second qualifying round at Wimbledon.
Šálková got into the main draw of the Prague Open for the first time as direct entry, beating Zeynep Sönmez in the first round, before retiring in the third set to eventual finalist Magdalena Fręch in the next round. Šálková entered doubles draw with Barbora Palicová for the third year in a row, reaching quarterfinal, where they withdrew because of Šálková´s injury.
Šálková played her maiden WTA 125 event in Angers where she won three matches, before losing to former world No. 4, Belinda Bencic, in the semifinals.
Šálková won two ITF Circuit titles in singles, her first at W75 level, and four doubles titles.[2] Šálková finished the 2024 season ranked No. 164 in singles and 281 in doubles.[1]
