Hispanophobia

Hispanophobia is prejudice, fear, hostility, or discrimination directed toward people of Spanish or Latin American descent, or toward Spanish language, culture, and traditions. It can manifest socially, politically, or institutionally, including through stereotyping, xenophobia, exclusionary policies, hate speech, or violence.

Historically, Hispanophobia has appeared in different contexts, such as anti-Spanish sentiment in early modern Europe, anti-Mexican discrimination in the United States following the Mexican–American War, and contemporary anti-immigrant rhetoric targeting Latino communities. It may intersect with racism, nationalism, or anti-immigration movements.

The term is used in academic and social discourse to describe systemic or cultural bias against Hispanic or Latino populations.
