Jeremiah Justin Simms (July 24, 2003 – May 5, 2025), known professionally as Wifiskeleton (stylized in lowercase), was an American rapper,[2] record producer, singer,[3] songwriter,[4] guitarist,[5] and former YouTuber.[6] He was a member of the GothAngelz[7] collective and was involved in the underground music scene.[8]
Early life
Simms was born on July 24, 2003,[9] in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.[10]
Career
In the late 2010s, Simms gained popularity through a YouTube commentary channel under the name Cyrus.[10][11][12] A prominent figure in the late-2010s YouTube commentary sphere, his channel focused on commentary about internet culture and online disputes. Around this time, while still operating as Cyrus, Simms began writing music under the aliases Fuxkcy[11], Moody and SecretSaturdays[9] (all stylized in lowercase).
In the early 2020s, Simms began performing under the alias *67.[13][10] During this period, he experimented with underground sounds such as hyperpop[14] and sigilkore.[15][14] His work gained attention on streaming platforms and social media during the COVID-19 pandemic.[5][16][17] Simms later gained recognition under the names "Wifiskeleton" and "Skeleton Archive"[13][16] (both stylized in lowercase), with Wifiskeleton being his primary alias. As Wifiskeleton, he co-founded the underground collective GothAngelz with fellow artists and collaborators Keepsecrets, Witchbox, and Mandy (all stylized in lowercase).[16][9] Coverage of his work during this period describes his music as incorporating elements of emo rap,[7] lo-fi,[14] guitar music,[13] and hip-hop, creating a "digital underground"[7] sound.
According to AllMusic, his lyrics often explored "extremely depressive themes of death, despair, self-harm, and other joyless topics".[18][10][5] In May 2024, Simms released his debut mixtape Lovefool.[16]
On May 5, 2025, Simms died in Miami, Florida, due to a suspected drug overdose.[10][8] The report of his death was initially shared by fellow artist Witchbox in the GothAngelz Discord server,[3] stating that he was "already cold" when police and medics arrived.[16][17] In the hours leading up to his death, Simms appeared on an Instagram livestream in which he made statements indicating suicidal intent.[2][16][5]
On May 7, 2025, Hallwood Recordings and 9th St. Records confirmed Simms' death in a statement reported by Billboard, describing him as "a rare soul whose art, energy and presence moved so many."[6] In the days following his death, Simms' Apple Music and Spotify accounts were compromised, resulting in the unauthorized upload of a track titled "cinco de mayo was a nightmare lol."[19] The upload was later removed.[19]
According to Pitchfork writer Kieran Press-Reynolds, Wifiskeleton became a stylistic reference point within the "online indie music boom" or "new wave of SoundCloud 'indie rock.'"[8] Artists bunii and witty described newer musicians attempting to replicate his sound, with some referring to their work as "wifiskeleton type song".[8] Bunii stated that artists imitating Wifiskeleton's sound were popular across TikTok.[8] Press-Reynolds added that Simms had allegations of grooming circulating online shortly before his death.[8]

"Nope Your [sic] Too Late I Already Died" (stylized in sentence case; initially named "carve out my left eye idiot"[‡ 1]) is a song by American musicians Wifiskeleton and I Wanna Be a Jack-o-Lantern. It was released on September 27, 2024, via SoundCloud,[‡ 1] and later on October 22, 2024, on streaming platforms[‡ 2] through 9th St. and Hallwood.[20] It appears on Simms' 2024 mixtape Suburban Daredevil.[‡ 2] It went viral on the video-sharing app TikTok[21][16] and became their first song to chart, debuting and peaking at number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100.[22][6] Following Simms' death in May 2025, Pitchfork mentioned in an article that the song saw a surge in global popularity and streaming activity.[8]
TikTok Virality
The song gained widespread attention in May 2025, starting on the first day of the month when TikToker Rex Lengyel uploaded a parody titled "Nope You're Too Late I'm Already Dad". In the clip, Lengyel performed the song in the voices of animated sitcom characters Bob Belcher, Peter Griffin, Homer Simpson, and Stan Smith. The video drew attention for the line, "If you see me out in Quahog, say hi," with the full parody being released shortly afterward.[21] Around the same time, Wifiskeleton died due to a drug overdose.[2][14]
Composition
"Nope Your Too Late I Already Died" was written by Wifiskeleton[‡ 2] and produced by I Wanna Be a Jack-o-Lantern.[‡ 1] The song is composed in E minor and has a tempo of 120 beats per minute.[23]
