RoadCraft is a vehicle simulation video game developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment. It tasks players to manage construction operations in sites previously ravaged by natural disasters using a variety of heavy equipment vehicles.
Gameplay
RoadCraft is a vehicle simulation game. In the game, the player character is in charge of a construction company specializing in natural disaster recovery.[1] The game features 40 different heavy equipment vehicles, which can be used for damage assessment, debris removal, transport of materials, infrastructure repair, and reconstruction of damaged bridges and roads.[2][3] Debris can be recycled, turning them into materials for reconstruction. Players can manually operate each vehicle, though tasks can also be automated to enhance efficiency, with the player plotting the routes of each vehicle.[4] The game featured eight maps at launch, and supports four-player cooperative multiplayer.[5]
Development
The game was developed by Saber Interactive, the studio behind MudRunner, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game and SnowRunner.[6] RoadCraft was announced in August 2024.[7] The game was released for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on May 20, 2025.[8] Players who purchased the physical edition of the game will receive an additional vehicle, the Aramatsu Bowhead 30T, for free.[9]
A paid expansion for the game titled Rebuild was released in September 2025, alongside a free update that introduced additional difficulty options.[10]

RoadCraft received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator website Metacritic.[11][12][13] PCGamesN described it as one of the standout simulation titles of 2025, noting the effective translation of real-world civil engineering tasks into engaging challenges.[19] GamingBolt highlighted the rewarding nature of the objectives, the lack of a tedious skill tree-based progression, and good performance on PC.[20]
The introduction of four-player cross-play co-operative mode was a major point of praise. Push Square noted that the game is the developer's most ambitious title to date, noting the fact that the entire campaign is playable in co-op. While the reviewer acknowledged that the removal of fuel micromanagement might be seen by some fans as a "dilution of the formula," he ultimately concluded that the title represents the "best of the lot" in terms of variety and spectacle.[21] XboxEra lauded the updated physics engine, though it pointed out occasional visual pop-in on console versions when running in performance mode.[22]
Some reviewers criticized the game's steep learning curve and the repetitive nature of material hauling. Rock Paper Shotgun mentioned that the slow pace, while meditative for some, could border on tedious during some missions.[23] VG247 noted that while the removal of survival mechanics like fuel and damage management makes RoadCraft "the least hardcore" entry in the series, this reduced difficulty is frequently undermined by a 'frustrating' AI route-plotting system that requires constant player intervention.
