Eupodiscaceae Ralfs in Pritchard, 1861

Type-genus: Eupodiscus J.W.Bailey, 1851 - conserved over Eupodiscus Ehrenberg, 1844 (ICBN, 1956)

Note: Kützing had earlier used the name Eupodiscaceae, but it was the definition of Ralfs in Pritchard (1861) that was conserved. The family name was later adopted by other diatomists (e.g., Schütt, 1896; Bessey, 1900).
