- Holotype: FML 23301, adult ♂, collected by C.S. Abdala, J.S. Abdala and E. Malovini on 22 January 2002.
- Type locality: “Beach 3 km south of Camarones, Bahia Camarones, Florentino Ameghino Department, Chubut Province, Argentina”.
- Etymology: named after the type locality.
- Synonymised with Liolaemus fitzingerii Duméril & Bibron, 1837, by Minoli, Morando & Ávila (2014: 521).
