  • Type locality: The Kermadec Trench, South Pacific Ocean, 30°25′31″S 177°54′36″W / 30.425167°S 177.91°W / -30.425167; -177.91, depth 6018 m.
  • Holotype: NIWA164003.
  • Etymology: The species name is derived from the Latin word asperatus, which means rough, and this refers to the rough dorsal skin caused by warts.
