The fruit are eaten.

It is a tropical plant. It grows on higher parts of the floodplains in the Amazon. It grows in the lowlands.

A shrub. It grows 1.5 m tall. The fruit are round and bright yellow. They are 3 cm across. There are 5 brown seeds.

Fruit are produced during the rainy season. A shrub can produce 24 fruit.

It has also been put in the family Theophrastaceae.
