How to Identify
A tropical tree in the Melastomataceae family found in the Amazon region.
Other Uses
The wood is whitish with a grayish tinge. The texture is fine to medium; grain is straight; lustrous; free of any discernible odour or taste. The wood is light in weight; firm; strong. It is easy to work, but saws woolly; it takes a smooth polish; liable to check in drying.. The wood is used for fuel.
