Fruit - raw. The fleshy pulp is eaten. The red fruit is 20 - 23mm long, 13 - 18mm wide and 8 -12mm thick (this is a dried specimen, fresh fruits will be larger).

How to Identify

A tree. It grows 15-45 m tall. The trunk is 50 cm across. The fruit is red and 2 cm long by 1.5 cm wide

How to Grow

The fruits are clearly adapted to water dispersal.

Other Uses

The heartwood is a straw-yellow to a dark yellow. The wood appears to be of little use. It is a major exportable timber in New Guinea.
