Jesse's gang, better known as the New Order of the Stone, was a group of adventurers who served as the main protagonists from The Order of the Stone to A Block and a Hard Place.

History

Prior to Season One

The group initially consisted of Jesse, Axel, and Olivia. They entered the EnderCon Building Competition every year, but lost each time. Reuben later joined the group after Jesse met him near a waterfall.^{[note 1]}

Season One

In The Order of the Stone, the group entered again with Reuben. They were asked for their team name, choosing from Dead Enders, Nether Maniacs, Order of the Pig, or No-names if they remained silent. After Aiden burned their build and caused Reuben to run away, Jesse could decide whether Axel and Olivia stayed to save the build or went to find Reuben.

After traveling through the woods, Petra stumbled upon Jesse and helped them. They went to EnderCon and met Axel and Olivia. If Jesse told them to stay, their team would win. After Petra was scammed by Ivor, the group helped her find him, recruiting Lukas along the way. The group confronted Ivor and, after the wither storm was spawned, escaped to Gabriel's temple. They were tasked by Gabriel with finding the other members of the Order of the Stone. During the chaos, the wither storm caught Petra and Gabriel with tractor beams, and Jesse was forced to save only one, leaving the other to Lukas. The wither hit Jesse into the Nether portal, and Lukas, frozen nearby, was slammed in with them. In the Nether, Axel confronted Lukas for his inability to help. The person Jesse saved would later accompany them in Assembly Required.

Throughout the story, the group faced internal conflicts. Axel disliked Lukas and confronted him multiple times, while Jesse could choose whether to treat Lukas kindly. Olivia treated Lukas with kindness and she would berate Axel and Jesse if they treated him poorly. If Jesse was kind, Lukas reciprocated. In The Last Place You Look, if Jesse chose to save the amulet over helping Axel and Reuben, Lukas went after them. Axel apologized to Lukas, and they became friends. Petra would scold Jesse for choosing the amulet over their friends, if she was present. Jesse could also tell Lukas to stay away from Reuben, which would result in Reuben staying with Lukas and being upset at Jesse. Regardless of Jesse and Lukas' relationship, he would still disagree with the group's direction and condition, and Jesse could either comply or disagree with him.

In A Block and a Hard Place, Lukas might stay or leave depending on his interactions with Jesse and how they treated him in previous episodes. If Jesse was rude throughout everything, Lukas would beome resentful and voice his frustrations while resting with the group in a cave, complaining that he did not feel like he belonged and wanted to seek his real friends. If Jesse was kind, Lukas would still attempt to leave for the Ocelots, but could be convinced to stay or return later to help with the wither storm. If Lukas left on bad terms, he would not come back, and Olivia would express that she missed the time he spent with them, while Axel wished Lukas had been present during the fight against the wither storm.

After Jesse fell from the wither storm, the others gathered around them, suddenly they heard Reuben's cries, and rushed towards him. After Reuben died, Petra, Lukas, or both comforted them.

A memorial was built for Reuben, with the group on a platform alongside the Order of the Stone, except Lukas. Jesse could choose to express that they were unable to do everything without their friends, including Lukas, who might either cheer or leave in anger. Axel, Jesse, Olivia, and Petra became the New Order of the Stone.

In Order Up!, the New Order was admired, except by the Blaze Rods. They later learned that Lukas had been kicked out. After deciding about Ivor's house, Axel and Olivia left to fix it. Jesse and Petra then went to the Order Hall, where they found Lukas. If Lukas left on bad terms, he would apologize, which Jesse accepted and reciprocated, and he would then join the group again.

In A Journey's End?, Hadrian kidnapped Axel and Olivia and imprisoned them. After defeating the Old Builders, the group returned to their Overworld with Ivor.

Season Two

The group grew more distant, meet less, and lived separate lives, which caused Petra to develop resentment. On the day before Founding Day in Hero in Residence, Petra planned to spend time with the whole group. Axel, Jesse, Lukas, and Olivia met in the Order Hall to listen and discuss Lukas' writing. After the discussion, Radar arrived to inform them that Petra was waiting, and Axel, Lukas, and Olivia regretfully explained that they could not come due to Founding Day preparations.

As Jesse met Petra in the mine, she was slightly frustrated that the others had not come and remarked that they had all become "lame", which Jesse could agree or disagree.

In Jailhouse Block, Romeo proclaimed that he would get "loads of friends soon" and took Jesse's appearance. Romeo taunted Jesse that he will take their friends, as well as Axel, Lukas, and Olivia.

During Below the Bedrock at the three admins' house, Jesse examined various objects, which reminded them and Petra of the past. Petra began sobbing, and when Jesse asked why, she initially lied, saying she remembered a sad story about puppies, though she quickly admitted she had been lying. She lamented that everything in the house reminded her of their relationships, complaining that they used to spend time together in the treehouse but now barely talked, and that everyone left and she was alone again. Jesse tried to comfort her, but she insisted that they should focus on defeating Romeo. After reading that Fred believed Romeo only wanted them to stay together, Petra admitted that she had been doing the same thing and stated that she did not want to cross the same lines that Romeo did.

Lukas met Romeo in the Order Hall, unaware that he was not Jesse. Lukas believed that Jesse had changed and had been secretly freeing and recruiting Romeo's prisoners to start a rebellion. Axel and Olivia arrived at Beacontown after hearing the news about Jesse, and they were being forced to stay for JesseCon. Both were shaken with horror as Romeo either killed Xara or destroyed Champion City. The real Jesse quickly grabbed the two and took them to Jack's shop. They were relieved as Jesse explained everything to them, while Olivia checked on Petra. Together, they executed the plan for Axel and Olivia to keep Romeo distracted while Jesse went to the floating tower. At the tower, Jesse was cornered by Lukas and the new Ocelots. Lukas explained that had he reformed the group to remind Jesse how things were before and the friend he knew would not do horrible things. Jesse was backed up by Petra and Jack in the explanation and finally convinced Lukas.

At the end of Above and Beyond, Axel and Olivia shared a hug with Petra. Afterward, Olivia dragged Jesse toward the others while Lukas walked toward them, and the five shared a group hug. Axel asked if it would be the last time they were all together, and Olivia responded "maybe", as Petra was leaving. Jesse then expressed hope that they would still see each other and remain friends. Axel and Olivia left to go back to their respective towns, with Axel breaking down in tears. Lukas stayed in Beacontown, while Petra left for her adventures. Jesse could choose to stay in Beacontown or join Petra.
