The fruit are eaten raw or boiled with added sugar to make a drink.

It grows in the Patagonian steppe in Argentina. In Argentina it grows from sea level to 2,600 m above sea level.

A shrub. It grows 1.5 m tall. The leaves are of 2 forms. The fruit is 7-8 mm across. They are green and red when ripe.
