Fruit - raw. A sweet-tasting, fleshy pulp. The dark purple, ellipsoid fruit can be 25mm long and 15mm wide.
Where to Find It
It is a tropical plant. It grows in open areas in coastal rainforest. It is best in a sunny position.

How to Identify
An evergreen shrub or tree. The crown is dense and narrow. It grows 10 m tall. The trunk can be 15-25 cm across. The fruit is dark purple and oval. They are 25 mm long by 15 mm wide.
How to Grow
Plants can be grown from fresh seeds. Seeds sprout in 40-60 days.
Propagation: Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in individual containers. A germination rate of almost 100% can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 40 - 60 days.
Other Uses
The wood is fine-textured, straight-grained, moderately heavy, hard to cut, moderately durable. A good wood, but generally too small to be used other than items such as lathe work and tool handles. The wood is used for fuel.
Production
It is slow growing.
