Red Baneberry: Short herbaceous plant (no thorns), berries on thick red stems, each berry has a single seed, compound sharply-toothed leaves.

Mt Wilhelm blackberry: Thorny woody canes (brambles), aggregate berry made of many drupelets, berries pull easily from receptacle.

Where to Find It

It is a tropical plant. It has been recorded at 3,750 m above sea level on Mt Wilhelm in Papua New Guinea.

How to Identify

A straggling shrub. It grows 1.5 m long. The flowers are greenish white. They can occur singly on in groups of 2-3. The fruit are oval and purplish grey. They can be 5.5 cm long by 4 cm across.
